People of PCHES: Samantha Roth

Samantha is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Penn State Department of Statistics. She’s originally from Lehigh Valley in PA. Samantha earneda Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from Lehigh University. As an undergraduate, she took part in natural resource education clubs. Some of her research interests include spatio-temporal modeling and modeling extreme precipitation events.

Samantha is currently working on developing better spatio-temporal models for crop yield data and other weather-related datasets. In general, she interested in applying statistical methods to issues related to natural resources and public health.

Outside of research, Samantha likes to exercise, play board games and card games, solve sudoku puzzles and crosswords, care for her plants, and hike.
